Because we have been teaching Medical Transcription for so long, almost all of our students are referred to our program. You won't find us on chat sites. We don't own a Forum to promote us and we rarely advertise- we don't need to. We are not a retail-like school which depends on large numbers of students for our survival. We are not a school which grinds out thousands of graduates who hit the internet pavements looking for jobs. We are a Staffing-Placement school ! We are absolutely unique in this field. How it Works:
Med Workshops has Staffing-Placement Partnerships with National Transcription companies. Our classes are rigorous and meet the specific education and hiring requirements of our partner employers. Our Partner transcription companies will hire all graduates from our Bright Start Bundle program.
This is a ten-month course. You will always have instructor support during these classes. It is expected that full-time students will graduate in ten months by studying 20 to 30 hours per week. Part-time students are also accepted.
Train from home! The study is roughly 30% Online and interactive. The balance is study from software and textbooks.
This curriculum is blended by our staff and represents the best study aids the industry has to offer. There is no better curriculum available. Mentored Internship teaches you on-the-job skills that you can only learn in this fashion. PLEASE NOTE: Few, if any, schools offer an internship in their training!

Anatomy, Physiology and Terminology (APT)
In this class the student learns the language of medicine and the functions of the human body. All of the necessary reference books are provided by Med Workshops.
Basic Medical Transcription Typing 1
Students will be exposed to a wide variety of physician dictation that duplicates actual working conditions. Here is a list of the medical specialties covered in this section: Cardiopulmonary, Dermatology, Ears, Nose, Throat, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Gynecology, Hematology, Immunology, Neurology, Obstetrics, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Laboratory procedures
Dictated voice files consist of chart notes, letters, office evaluations, history and physicals, consultations, emergency department reports, preoperative notes, and discharge summaries. Also included in the study are these medical conditions or illnesses:

Online Computer Technology for Medical Transcription
This class teaches you to save and name files, how to find files on your computer, how to download and upload files, create transcription "shortcuts", customize your keyboard and toolbar for transcription. This is also the class which will teach you the ins and outs of upload-download of encrypted files. You will learn how to be setup to work from home.
Basic Medical Transcription Typing 2
These specialties are covered: o Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
Mentored Internship is approximately six weeks to two months of full-time training- part-time is also available. You will mentor with a professional transcriptionist(s) who will help you work out the rough spots and learn the many software templates. This training is essemtial for your success. You will learn how to produce work at a 95% accuracy level to meet industry standards. AND you will learn to do all your work from home by computer. You have graduated from Mentored Internship upon administrative acceptance of your work. You are then ready to go to work from home for the Company you intern with.
Med Workshops' POLICY: We don't have open enrollment for our staffing-placement classes! We educate to fill jobs. If we don't have the job orders we don't enroll new students.
